REACH Declaration
Articles
(According to REACH: “An object which during production is given a special shape, surface or design which determines its function to a greater degree than its chemical composition.”)
The Tintometer Group is a manufacturer and distributor of products, which are referred to as „Articles“ under the chemicals law.
The publication of the “Candidate List“, according to Article 59(1) of EC Regulation 1907/2006 (“REACH”), triggers a number of obligations for the European market.
This applies to substances which are included by European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) for Authorization as defined in Articles 33, 57 and 59 (1), and as well as substances which are listed in Annex XIV (Article 58).
Based on the information available to us from our material suppliers and our knowledge of the article compositions, all Tintometer articles do not contain such substances in concentration above 0.1 % (w/w).
Since we do not expect these Substances of Very High Concerns to be present in our articles, we do not perform analysis on our materials or end products to analyze for these substances.
We continuously review the ECHA “Candidate List“ for additions and updates, are in close and constant contact with our suppliers and act accordingly in compliance with REACH regulations.
In addition, our articles do not have intended release of substances under normal and reasonable conditions of use. Therefore, the requirement in REACH Article 7 (1)(b) for registration of substances contained in these articles does not apply.

REACH Declaration related to
Substances of Very High Concern
Mixture / Substance / Reagent
(According to REACH a mixture is defined as: a mixture or solution composed of two or more substances)
We continuously gather information in the supply chain and pass it along; all uses have been/are identified and communicated.
After implementing a substance in the Candidate List of Substances with Very High Concern (SVHC) EU and EEA suppliers of mixtures which are not classified as hazardous according Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 must provide a safety data sheet to the customers on request when the mixtures contain at least one substance from the Candidate List and its individual concentration is above 0,1 % (w/w).
A safety data sheet shall be provided for Substances of Very High Concern generally.
Our reagents are almost exclusively mixtures. In order to provide the best knowledge regarding safety and handling to our customers, we generally create a safety data sheet for each reagent according to the REACH requirements.
The CLP Regulation (Regulation 1272/2008) is closely related to the REACH Regulation. Our mixtures are classified according to these legal requirements. You will find more detailed information regarding classification and labelling of our reagents in the corresponding safety data sheet.
Statement by the Tintometer Group
on its use of conflict resources
On August 22, 2012, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) published updated guidelines to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. These regulations require listed companies in the USA to report and make public the use of so-called conflict resources from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries in their products.
These include: tantalite, tin, gold and wolframite
The intention of the Dodd-Frank Act is to minimise the financing of militia and rebellions and help to resolve the conflict in this region.
The Tintometer Group companies are particularly committed to the responsible treatment of natural resources. We give high priority to ethical standards and compliance when selecting suppliers for our products (equipment and chemicals). As a non-listed company, we are not obliged by law to publish our use of resources however we want to ensure that our partners feel an obligation to comply with the same standards and regulations.
The management team has therefore agreed on the following measures:
- The corporate management of the Tintometer Group has agreed on a package of measures governing its use of conflict resources.
- We identify the use of critical materials and resources in our supply chain.
- We take great care in the selection of (future) suppliers to ensure that the above-mentioned conflict materials and resources are not used.
- All existing suppliers have already been contacted by the purchasing department and asked to provide information about their own use of critical materials. The findings can then be sent to our customers as part of an ongoing process.
All suppliers of the Tintometer Group are obliged to apply similar guidelines and demand the same due care from their own contractors.
